چکیده
A computer model for simulating population dynamics of Lyctocoris campestris (F.), a predator of stored-product insects, was developed using data from the literature and newly collected data for adult longevity and fecundity. Immature development time and survival, adult longevity, fecundity, and cannibalism were simulated. The model was validated at ambient environmental conditions during three seasons in Wisconsin. The model accurately simulated development of the predator feeding on larvae of the Indianmeal moth, Plodia interpunctella (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), in the validation studies. The model will be useful in optimizing massrearing and augmentative releases of this predator for biological control of stored-product insect

POPULATION ECOLOGY Computer Model for Simulating Almond Moth (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) Population Dynamics
We developed a computer model for simulating the population dynamics of the almond moth, Cadra cautella (Walker). The model incorporates previously published life history data for the almondmothdeveloping on storedpeanuts, Arachis hypogaeaL., including stage-speciÞc immature developmental time and survival and adult longevity and fecundity. The model was modiÞed so that it also could be used to...
متن کاملDynamics of an eco-epidemic model with stage structure for predator
The predator-prey model with stage structure for predator is generalized in the context of ecoepidemiology, where the prey population is infected by a microparasite and the predator completely avoids consuming the infected prey. The intraspecific competition of infected prey is considered. All the equilibria are characterized and the existence of a Hopf bifurcation at the coexistence equilibriu...
متن کاملPHYSIOLOGICAL ECOLOGY Development and Survivorship of Immature Angoumois Grain Moth (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) on Stored Corn
Life history of immature Angoumois grain moths, Sitotroga cerealella (Olivier), was studied on dent corn (Pioneer 3320) at 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 C and at 43, 53Ð61, 75Ð76, and 82Ð87% RH under laboratory conditions. At 10 and 40 C, none of the stages survived at any relative humidity. Temperaturewas themain factor affecting egg incubationperiod, larval-pupal development time, and egg an...
متن کاملARTHROPOD BIOLOGY Morphological and Genetic Divergence in Three Populations of Anthocoris antevolens (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae)
Anthocoris antevolensWhite (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Anthocoridae) is a widespread predatory bug in North America that exhibits substantial geographic variation in coloration, body measurements, size and shape of the male genitalia, pubescence, and sexual behavior. Earlier behavioral studies with three populations (including two populations that are sympatric in central Washington) showed that t...
متن کاملECOLOGY AND POPULATION BIOLOGY Seasonal Distribution of Anthocoris spp. and Deraeocoris brevis (Heteroptera: Anthocoridae, Miridae) in Orchard and Non-Orchard Habitats of Central Washington
Occurrence of Anthocoris tomentosus Péricart, A. antevolens White, A. whitei Reuter, and Deraeocoris brevis (Uhler) in non-orchard habitats is described for areas adjacent to the pear growing regions of Yakima, WA. The four species were found on a number of tree and shrub species, especiallywillow, cottonwood, oak, alder, aspen, poplar, andbitterbrush. The four predators differed in degree of s...
